We warmly welcome Encory in Salching!
Encory GmbH is currently preparing the construction and operation of a pilot recycling plant for battery materials at the Salching site. Our parent company, Sturm GmbH & Co KG (sole owner Wilhelm Sturm), which owns the entire site with a total area of 90,000 square metres, is making the corresponding area and halls available as landlord from 1 July 2020.
Encory GmbH is building an innovative plant for direct recycling on behalf of its customer, the BMW Group. The aim is to recover the active material – carbon/silicon for the anode and lithium/nickel/manganese for the anode – from production waste in various forms.
lithium/nickel/manganese for the cathode – as a recyclate. Ideally, this recyclate should be reusable as a raw material in the customer’s cell production without any further processing steps.
This innovative process can replace established but very energy-intensive recycling methods. This makes the recovery of secondary raw materials much more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The planned pilot-scale facilities will not only be used to develop and test new input materials and processes, but will also enable products to be manufactured in the required quantities for property testing by third parties prior to market launch.
‘We are delighted to welcome Encory GmbH to our company premises in Salching,’ says Wilhelm Sturm, owner of the entire Sturm Group.
